Transport Fever 3 beverages production: brewery inputs and cargo

The default brewery recipe, grain and glass inputs, economy settings that include beverages, and how to check a compatible cargo vehicle.

How do you produce beverages?

The base brewery's default resource definition uses 8 Grain and 3 Glass to produce 8 Beverages. This is the recipe in Steam build 25533170, checked on 30 September 2026. It applies to the default recipe with industry input enabled. An economy setting or a custom industry parameter can change that configuration. The figures describe a recipe ratio; they are not a measured annual production rate.

Start with the industry input and output list to find the upstream producers of grain and glass, and the cargo list to check the names in your game language. Read the actual brewery's input and output display before sizing a line: the recipe alone does not tell you its current demand, delivery rate or profitability.

Does the brewery need both grain and glass?

In the default two-input configuration, yes. The recipe has a quantity for each of the brewery's two input stocks: Grain first, Glass second. Its output is Beverages. The game's industry interface maps these recipe positions to the corresponding stock cargo types, which is why the two numbers can be interpreted as inputs rather than guessed from filenames.

Input switches and the selected economy can alter the industry's stocks and rules. If your brewery shows a different recipe, use that display for the current save. Do not apply the default ratio to a modified configuration or treat a full input stock as proof that the output has a working destination.

Why are beverages or breweries missing in a tropical game?

The base tropical economy excludes Beverages and Brewery. Their declarations belong to the temperate, dry and subarctic economy categories. The tropical economy's configuration removes both entries. The game's All Industries economy setting is an exception to the category filter.

Economy and climate are separate settings in the resource logic. A tropical-looking map is therefore not enough to identify the active economy, and this is not a universal claim that tropical terrain prevents beverage production. Check the selected economy, any sandbox changes and active mods when comparing two games.

Which vehicles can carry beverages?

Beverages declares the UNIVERSAL and GOODS cargo classes. Compare those classes with the cargo classes on a vehicle's transport declaration. The vehicle list provides the reviewed names, resource groups, year fields and cargo classes; search for the class name to narrow the list.

A matching class identifies a compatible resource declaration. The vehicle still needs to be offered in your selected year and game configuration, and a particular compartment or vehicle setup may affect loading. A locomotive name on its own is not evidence that it carries freight: check the transport declaration of the wagon or other carrying vehicle. The list includes resource variants, so its row count is not a count of distinct vehicles available in every save.

What should you check if the chain is not working?

Use this as an observation checklist for the current save:

  1. Confirm that the active economy includes the brewery and beverages.
  2. Read the brewery's displayed recipe, check whether industry input is enabled and compare both input stocks.
  3. Compare its input stocks with deliveries from the upstream grain and glass producers.
  4. Inspect the carrying vehicle's cargo setup and the actual stops and loading settings on the line.
  5. Check the brewery's output and the receiving location's current beverage demand separately.

These checks help locate a constraint; they do not establish a universal station radius, minimum vehicle count or guaranteed profit. For timing, town delivery ratings and maintenance, continue to the Tycoon guide.

Sources and version scope

The evidence is the installed base game's brewery construction declaration (industries/brewery.zip, brewery/brewery.con.lua), beverage cargo declaration (cargos/beverages.zip, beverages/beverages.cargo.lua), industry interface mapping (gui/main/industry_util.tl in gui.zip), economy filtering (base/mod.script.tl in base.zip) and tropical economy configuration. Names were checked against the game's English and Simplified Chinese localization.
