Transport Fever 3 mods: mod.io, Workshop, and TF2 conversion

How Transport Fever 3 plans to distribute and manage mods across platforms, and what TF2 model conversion does not promise.

Last updated: 2026-09-28

Transport Fever 3 plans to use an integrated mod.io browser for mods across its PC stores and consoles. The current official FAQ says Steam Workshop will not be included. This describes the announced distribution system, not a test of a particular release-day mod. Official support FAQ, checked 28 September 2026.

Where will players find and manage mods?

Urban Games' 30 July 2026 development blog says the Mod Hub is accessible from the main menu. It describes browsing and subscribing there, automatic downloads and updates, and managing a collection through the mod.io website. The blog says fixed, unique mod IDs help identify installed content and show missing dependencies during downloads. These are announced capabilities; the final menus and error messages have not been checked against a released game.

The answers in this table come from the current FAQ and the 30 July development blog, both checked on 28 September 2026.

Will Steam Workshop be available?

No, according to the current official FAQ. Its stated aim is one shared mod destination for Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, PlayStation, and Xbox players. The older 30 July blog still said the team was considering Workshop; the later FAQ gives the current decision. That difference is why an older development post alone is not enough to answer this question. Current FAQ · 30 July blog.

Can mods be shared outside the in-game browser?

The development blog says manual distribution and installation will remain possible for PC and Mac, including independent sharing of mods and saves. It does not provide a verified Transport Fever 3 folder path or a release-version installation procedure. The FAQ also mentions manual downloading and sharing outside the browser without giving those steps. Do not reuse a Transport Fever 2 directory as if it had been confirmed for this game. 30 July development blog · current FAQ.

Does cross-platform support mean every mod works everywhere?

The FAQ describes one mod.io browser for Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, PlayStation, and Xbox. The official Curated Mods Program FAQ says all curated mods and most other mods will be available across platforms. The development blog says uploads can receive an optimized console version and that some previous console-sharing restrictions have been reduced. These statements do not prove that every individual PC script mod will run on a console. Check each mod's listing and the released game's rules for platform compatibility, storage limits, and any effects on achievements or trophies. Those per-mod and reward-policy details are not established by the checked pages. Official FAQ · 30 July blog.

Can Transport Fever 2 mods or saves be moved over?

The official Curated Mods Program FAQ explicitly says Transport Fever 2 mods are not directly compatible with Transport Fever 3; authors can adapt them. Urban Games' updated tools support basic conversion of existing Transport Fever 2 models, with adjustments before integration into the new game. A model is only part of a mod, so this does not establish that an old mod, its scripts, dependencies, or a Transport Fever 2 save will work unchanged. The blog announces improved Blender import support, in-game export for some construction content, and reloading of most script-based game content during development; it does not supply a verified migration recipe for every mod type. 30 July development blog.

Must a creator join the Curated Mods Program?

No. Urban Games says modding is open to all players from release, including creators outside the curated program. The program selects and reviews some community mods for technical, visual, and presentation quality. Its FAQ says curated and other Transport Fever 3 mods are available to download at no cost. Selection is not a promise that a mod will never conflict with another mod or always receive updates. Official Curated Mods Program FAQ, checked 28 September 2026.

Recent creator announcement: three planned mods

In a video published on 26 September 2026 in Pacific time, 27 September in Beijing, creator IncredibleTrains described their work as part of the Curated Mods Program and announced three separate mods: Timetable Mod, Overpass Builder, and Move It. The creator says they plan to offer all three free through mod.io for PC and consoles. This is the creator's announcement, not an Urban Games release-time notice or proof that any of the mods can already be downloaded or has been tested on every platform as of 28 September 2026. Timetable Mod is a planned mod, not a timetable feature built into the base game. Creator's video and description.

Is this a multiplayer feature?

No multiplayer mode is announced in the current FAQ. Here, cross-platform describes access to mod content through a shared destination, not a shared multiplayer session or cross-platform saves. The FAQ describes Transport Fever 3 as focused on single-player play. Official support FAQ, checked 28 September 2026.

Release-day verification checklist

  • Check the released game's Mod Hub and the individual mod listing for supported platforms and dependencies.
  • Follow release-version instructions before manually copying files; this page does not provide an unverified folder path.
  • Keep a backup before trying any conversion of Transport Fever 2 content or saves. Model conversion is not a save-compatibility claim.
  • Check the game's own achievement or trophy policy for the platform and mod in question.

This checklist is a reading and verification aid, not a report of hands-on testing. The official pages above were rechecked on 28 September 2026, before the announced release date.
